Living in Forest Hill South

Forest Hill Village was born when it was incorporated in 1923 and named after the summer home of local businessman and butcher John Wickson. The village is a buzzing centre with quaint independent stores and bustling coffee shops and eateries. Newer hotspots like the Aroma Espresso Bar are interspersed with institutions like The Forest Hill Barber Shop, founded in 1931. Lonsdale Gallery offers painting, sculpture and photography exhibitions from Canadian and international artists.

The area serves up a selection of different foods in a variety of cozy eateries. Mashu Mashu is known for its Kosher Mediterranean food, while Pizza Banfi is a relaxed Italian neighbourhood favourite, and Edo Ko is a popular Japanese establishment. A giant Loblaws on St Clair is a convenient one-stop shop at the southern end of the neighbourhood. Olga’s Health Food and Kitchen Table are two smaller grocery spots and neighbourhood favourites in the heart of the village.
