As a longtime real estate professional and Bosley veteran, Doug has learned three key aspects of success: knowledge, patience, and understanding. These are the cornerstones of Doug’s business philosophy. He believes that people do business with you because they know you, trust you, and like you; as simplistic as that might seem, it is amazing how true it is.
Career background
Doug’s first company was an international textile design and consulting company, which he started as an undergraduate. After 19 years of almost non-stop travel, Doug sold the company and transitioned into real estate. He has gone from working as a sales representative, to corporate management, to a franchise partnership, and now to branch management as he leads the Bosley office in midtown Toronto.
“Ask people who their doctor or lawyer is and they won’t hesitate to tell you their name. Yet for the most expensive purchase the average family makes—their home—they will entrust it to the first realtor who comes along. My goal is to be (and help other agents become) the “name” and go-to resource for timely and informed market intelligence and advice.”
Why he loves real estate
For Doug, there is nothing more exciting than helping clients realize their goals and helping them make their dreams and aspirations become a reality. And it’s the same with being a manager: there is nothing more satisfying than being part of a team member’s success, to watch people grow, to share their successes and to help them turn moments of frustration to triumph. Doug sees the word team as an anagram: Together Each Achieves More. The most enjoyable and rewarding part of Doug’s leadership role is being part of the TEAM.
His career today
Though real estate is Doug’s second career, he is entering his fourth decade in the industry and still finds it as exciting and engaging today as it was when he first opened his practice. Over the years he has touched most parts of our business from residential resale to new home sales and marketing, to multi-residential development, land assembly, business brokerage, and agricultural acquisition and sales.
